You must practice with what you have!

It would be a good idea to include in your emergency preparedness plan a way to cook your food if you are not able to enter your home, or if utilities are turned off.

A gas grill with an extra tank of propane may be an ideal way to be prepared, and also enjoy cooking outdoors in times of non-emergency.

You may also need to cook on a real fire or on coals. Dutch oven cooking skills would be good to have in case you have to cook your meals on an open fire or coals.

Also, it is important to have a supply of food that does not require refrigeration, like the foods from Blue Chip Group.

As part of your planning and preparation you should establish a way that you can cook when your normal kitchen is not available, and you should practice so it will not be difficult during an emergency.

Cooking in the open is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and prepare for cooking during emergencies.
